Crossing the Streams Contest

Sharing is caring!

Myself and a whole slew of other speculative fiction writers have gotten together to create a huge, multi-genre, multi-author book giveaway contest.  We’re calling it Crossing the Streams and here’s how it works:

Each author involved is running a contest on his/her own site. The specific details vary from author to author, so the particulars of the contest I’m running may differ somewhat from the particulars on another author’s site.

But each contest has a few details in common. Each of us will select two winners from the contest on our own site, and each of those winners will receive one signed book, free, from the author whose contest they won. So, for instance, if you win here, you’ll win one of my books. If you win on Ari’s site, you’ll win one of his, etc.

But there’s a bigger prize. At the end of February, once the contests on the individual sites have ended, all the authors involved will get together and choose one single “super-winner” from all the entries on all our sites combined. This winner receive a signed book, free, from each and every one of the authors involved.  That’s a lot of cool books to win, baby.

You can only enter each author’s contest once, but you may enter multiple contests. So you could enter here, on Matt’s site, on Jason’s site, etc. In fact, you can enter on everyone’s site, if you want. (And even if you aren’t selected as the “super winner,” you might win more than one of the individual contests. You never know.)

You can find a complete list of the authors involved, as well as links to their sites, below. But first…

How to Enter

Remember, these are just the rules for my contest. The rules for entry on other authors’ sites might be very different.

But for me, it’s really simple — Just leave a comment to this post (and please make sure your name or username is reasonably distinct).   That’s it.  Easy peasy.

I will select two winners by random draw at the end of the month (and of course, everyone who enters is also in the running for the random “super-winner” selection), and those two winners can choose any one of my books(Forgotten Realms, Star Wars, or even an ARC of The Hammer and the Blade, if the winner is willing to wait a bit).  I’ll sign the books so chosen (personalizing as requested) and ship them off.

The Rest of the Lineup

As I said, there are over a dozen of us involved in this. You can find names and links below (in no particular order).  And hey, when you check out the various contest pages, browse around the author sites and have a look at their books.  These are talented storytellers and there’s bound to be something there you’ll enjoy.

  1. Hey Paul! This sounds like an awesome collection of writers! Consider me signed up for the contest. Even if I don’t win, I’ll probably still pick up a copy.

    Cheers!

  2. But for me, it’s really simple — Just leave a comment to this post (and please make sure your name or username is reasonably distinct). That’s it. Easy peasy.

Done! I’m very curious about the Hammer and the Blade myself…

  3. Some unfamiliar names on that list, but I will check them out. As for your books Paul, I loved both Erevis Cale trilogies and eagerly await Godborn. Just picked up Riptide and Crosscurrent today. Support your local bookstores!!

  4. This is a great idea to introduce a lot of authors to the public. Some of the names in the list I have heard of, but I don’t think I may have read any of their fiction, other than on a web site or in a magazine. I hope I can win a few and maybe get a chance to discover a new favority author.

  5. Well I know you said to just make a comment but hey how about a book recommendation…. If you’ve never read Steven Eriksons Malazan book of the Fallen you should check out Deadhouse Gates…. Really loved that book and though it is the second in a ten volume series the stories at that point kind of stood on their own…

  6. This is really cool. I’m glad I caught wind of it so early. I haven’t even heard of most of the authors on this list. It’s too bad that Scott Lynch isn’t on here. Most of my friends who are into fantasy have never even heard of him before I serial lent out my copies of his first two books.

  7. This is a great idea for a contest, and it is so cool to see all these authors working together.

  8. Definitely the easiest entry out of all the authors participating, especially considering I just finished entering all of them 🙂

  9. Great way to get Sci-Fi and Fantasy fans to check out authors they might not have read before.

    Thanks

    Frank

  10. Awesome! Love your Everis Cale books. Hope to read your books in the Star Wars expanded universe. Also can’t wait for the hammer and the blade!

  11. This is great. Gotta admit I haven’t read these authors so it will be great to broaden my horizons.

  12. This is one of the best competition ideas I have heard of. Has brought me to your sites and so I’ll probably end up buying some books 🙂

  13. Found you via Kevin Hearne! I’ll DEFINITELY be giving you a read since I’m a huge fan of the SW EU and occasionally, I even read some Forgotten Realms! I hope to win your Crossing the Streams contest!

  14. Not sure what to say so here’s a knock-knock joke:
    *Knock knock*
    “Who’s there?”
    “Steve Guttenberg”
    “Steve Guttenberg who?”
    “That’s show business…”

  15. This is absolutely one of the best contests and idea of this era. The idea of winning all those books is mind liquidizer. (TM)

Thanks Paul and other authors for doing this.

  16. Greetings from Finland. Absolutely love your Forgotten Realms books. Rivalen, Riven & Cale are badass. Keep up the good work!

  17. If chosen I pledge to enjoy these tomes with a fine cigar and a cask of dwarven spirits. I will also pledge to give the authors credit in any DND adventure that i run inspired by such literary works and not claim the idea as my own.

  18. Great contest. Great way to get readers involved and introduce them to some new (to them at least) authors. Thanks for taking part in it.

  19. What above says. Thank you guys so much for doing this. And thank the internet gods for free chapter previews on Amazon. I’ve got a whole new list of books to find whether or not I win anything.

  21. Wow. This is a great opprotunity. There are so many great authors on this list. And to think, if if wasn’t for Goodreads, I would’ve missed out on this awesome opprotunity.

  22. Well, it’s hard to pass up a great contest like this! Thanks to all the authors who participated!
