Various updates

Because I’ve been remiss and owe you a blog post, a few things:

I’m busy.  Man, am I busy.  This is a good thing.

I’m working on The Godborn, book II of The Sundering, at the moment.  Most of the book is already done, so this work consists of expanding the novel, adding scenes here and there, that kind of thing.  So much fun to write Riven and Magadon and Brennus and Rivalen … Read the rest

What’s new in September?

As is my wont, let me share with you a few titles coming out this month from the publishers with whom I work. Some great new books this month.

First, from the ferrous lands of Angry Robot Books, we have The Corpse-Rat King, by Lee Battersby. From the back matter:

Marius dos Hellespont and his apprentice, Gerd, are professional looters of battlefields. When they stumble upon the corpse of the King of Scorby and Read the rest

I Got Yer Readin’ Suggestions Right Here: The Legendary Appendix N

Often I’ve mentioned how much of an influence Fritz Leiber and Robert E. Howard have been on my work in general, and on the Egil and Nix stories in particular. Ah, but it’s become clear to me that many otherwise well-read fantasy readers haven’t read any Leiber or Howard or any of the other writers I’d put in the category of “You’ve-got-to-read-at-least-some-of-these-because-they’re-foundational-to-the-genre.”

Given that, and because I’m often asked for reading recommendations, I’m going to … Read the rest

The Sundering

By now, many have you have heard about The Sundering, an event set in the Forgotten Realms.  You can learn more if you watch the GenCon D&D Keynote here.  I want to address three things with this post. First, a brief summary of what is The Sundering (both the event and the novel series), in my own words. Second, what my participation in The Sundering series means for The Cycle of Night trilogy.  Third, … Read the rest

Various items and the word ‘cockly’

The Erevis Cale TrilogyFirst, apparently Wizards of the Coast has signed a new distribution agreement with Random House and the heretofore elusive and never-before-seen-on-camera international ebook versions of WotC novels will soon be available.  Print versions have been available in various languages for time immemorial, and now ebooks will join them. Rock on.  EURASIA, EREVIS CALE IS IN YOU!

Second, Angry Robot tells me they’re very happy with sales of The Hammer and the Blade, but, alas, … Read the rest

Post-release review round-up for The Hammer and the Blade

My sword and sorcery novel from Angry Robot Books, The Hammer and the Blade, has been out for almost two weeks.  Given that, the time seemed right for another review round-up (first round-up was here).  To say that I’ve been pleased with reviewer response to the book would be an understatement.  I’m only going to excerpt a few of the more recent reviews below, but there are lots and lots out there.  … Read the rest
