Riptide is a just a few days from release. Of course, this makes me nervous, but so it goes. Maybe you’re on the fence about the book? If so, I’ve got a few things that can help with the decision.
First, Del Rey Spectra has posted the first fifty pages of the book for their Fifty Page Friday. Have a read. See if you dig. Link is here.
Second, some reviewers received ARCs of Riptide ahead of time and were kind enough to post reviews. I wanted to share links to the two that I’ve seen.
First, Pete Morrison at Lightsaber Rattling reviewed the novel here and has some very nice things to say. Among my favorites is this:
I have a little advice for you, run don’t walk to your local bookseller and pick up Star Wars: Riptide on Tuesday, October 25th. The third Star Wars novel by author Paul S. Kemp is a page turning tale that has the pacing of an episode of ’24’.
My sincere thanks to Pete and the team at Lightsaber Rattling for taking the time to review the book.
Third, NJOE.com reviewed the novel here and likewise has some kind words. My favorite bit is this:
Kemp has proved that his decidedly original take on Star Wars has a depth that will keep him around for years to come. Riptide is a darker, more mature approach to the Expanded Universe, and will resonate strongly with readers yearning for a book that combines great philosophical and emotional substance with the ability to keep them on the edge of their seats with each turn of the page.
My thanks to Chris and NJOE.com for the review.
Riptide will be available in the U.S. on October 25. If you pick it up, I sincerely hope you enjoy it.
I have faith the book will be good. Erevis Cale books were great. Crosscurrent was great. I’ll probably pick up Deceived when it goes paperback.
