First, my friend, colleague, and former editor Phil Athans has written The Guide to Writing Fantasy and Science Fiction: Six Steps to Writing and Publishing Your Bestseller. The actual release date is July 18, but it is already available through Amazon (hence, this  book can obviously travel backward through time; rock on).   While I am quoted a few times in this book, you shouldn’t let that dissuade you from purchasing it. Lots of people wiser than I (including R.A. Salvatore and Terry Brooks) are also quoted and say things much more sensible than me.  I think it’s a great book and a very informative, thoughtful read.

Second, my friend, colleague, and all around nice guy Jim Hines has written the third book in his Princess Series, Red Hood’s Revenge, which came out while I was on vacation (hence the late bookday wish, since I am, alas, NOT able to travel back through time).  I am not quoted in Jim’s book and that is probably a very good thing.
